ipod June 2014 001I had a hard day recently and as a result tears were forming in my eyes and running down my cheeks. As my heart was crying out to God a song randomly came on to my iPod. The song was entitled El Me Conoce which means He knows me. (I have Spanish songs on my iPod because I’m trying to learn Spanish…. ūüôā )

The words to the song go on to say “He sees each tear that falls and hears me when I call.” I really needed to hear that right then, and I was so grateful that God provided those encouraging words!

Yes, God does see our tears. He even collects and records them!¬†Psalm 56:8 says: “You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.”¬† I don’t know why He takes special note of our tears…perhaps someday He will replace each one with a special hug or measure of joy.

God also hears us when we cry out to Him. “The Lord hears His people when they call to Him for help…..” (Psalm 34:17-18)

I was so encouraged that God knew where I was emotionally and He responded with a song. (Isn’t it amazing that God can use an iPod to reach us?) If you need to be encouraged that God knows your name, knows your troubles, sees your tears and hears your cry, then take a moment to listen to either the English or Spanish version of this song. He loves you and He does care for you!

Maui 2014 011My Child~

That beautiful sunset you just watched…..I made that for you!

The flower you marveled at…..I made that for you too!

The fish you saw under the ocean…..yes, I made that for you to enjoy!

Orangespine Unicornfish1

Did you know that My thoughts of you outnumber all the grains of sand on the earth? They do! I love you that much! So, relax My Child and enjoy what I have made. Take time to slow down, smell the flowers, watch the sunsets and remember Me and My love for you!

“How precious to me are your thoughts, God! ¬†How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand–when I am awake, I am still with you.” Psalm 139:17-18

“But ask the wild animals, and they will teach you. Ask the birds of the heavens, and let them tell you. Or speak to the earth and let it teach you. Let the fish of the sea make it known to you. Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this? In His hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all men.” ¬†Job 12:7-10

Maui Sunset

Maui Sunset

“If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.” ¬†Psalm 139:9-10

It is wonderful to know that God is always guiding us, no matter where we are or what we are facing.

A friend posted this verse on FaceBook while I was in Hawaii. I was facing a challenge at the time and as I woke that morning, I sensed God’s presence and guidance. When I read the verse later that morning which my friend had posted, it reaffirmed what I heard Him whisper to me. It really spoke to me due to “rising at dawn” and being “on the far side of the sea” because both pertained to me that day!

May you be assured too….God is guiding you and holding you close!

My Child~

Please stop dwelling on the past. Thinking about the past will not allow you to move forward and that is what I want……for you to live in the present.

So you made a mistake. Guess what? So do all My Children. Let it go! No parent wants their child dwelling on their errors. You talked with Me about it; you learned from it; so move on!

Someone treated you poorly? Discuss it with them if you can and leave the rest with Me. I will bring good out of your pain.

Don’t keep looking behind you. Don’t live in the past. Don’t beat yourself up over your mistakes. Don’t dwell on your hurts. Don’t use the past as an excuse to stay stuck where you are.

I have forgiven your past mistakes and taken your sin from you. (Psalm 103:12) I will deal with those who have hurt you. (Romans 12:19) I will make all things work together for good.  (Romans 8:28)

I want you to live in the present. I want you to focus on loving others and doing the best you can now, for Me and for My glory. I want you happy. I want you free. I want you living an abundant life. (John 10:10)

So stop looking behind you and concentrate on the present moment. There is a whole wide world waiting for you to embrace. But you need to be free of the past to fully embrace the present.

Are you with Me? I am with you!! Let it Go and let’s move forward!!!

“This is the day which the Lord has made; Let us be glad and rejoice in it.” (Psalm 118:24)

“Brothers and sisters, I know that I still have a long way to go. But there is one thing I do: I forget what is in the past and try as hard as I can to reach the goal before me. I keep running hard toward the finish line to get the prize that is mine because God has called me through Christ Jesus to life up there in heaven.” ¬† (Philippians 3: 13-14)

March 2014 117“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” ¬†Romans 8:28

It’s hard, really hard, to go through tough times. It doesn’t seem fair, and even though we know that life isn’t fair, we want it to be fair.

We want answers to the “whys” in life. ¬†Why did I lose my health, my child, my spouse, my marriage, my job, my home, my ______ (fill in the blank). Why?

In tough times I have to cling to the truth that God is good. And that He allows things to happen for His purposes…..which I may not understand immediately. Or I may not understand until weeks later. Or months later. Or years later. Or maybe not until heaven.

During the tough times I choose to trust; otherwise I would be cranky, angry or maybe even depressed.

I am fortunate that today I understand why I experienced a horrible ordeal in December.  Going through that situation was very upsetting and even frightening. But now that I see the bigger picture, I am grateful that I went through it, because others will benefit.

A woman shared recently in a bible study that circumstances in our life are like puzzle pieces. When we look at one piece, it doesn’t make sense by itself and it may even appear ugly. But as the puzzle is assembled, a beautiful picture unfolds.

All things do work together for good, and whether I see that goodness tomorrow or 10,000 tomorrows from now shouldn’t matter to me.

What matters is I know God can be trusted. And so I choose to trust. (Psalm 9:10, Job 13:15)

In His way and in His timing, He will let me see the big (finished) picture. And it will be beautiful.

Whispers From The Father

Search me, O God, and know my heart. Try me and know my anxious thoughts. And see if there be any hurtful way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way. (Psalm 139: 23-24)

The start of a new year seems like a good time for me to take a look inside and examine my heart. Am I doing what is good and right? Am I doing what God would want me to do? Or not? Those questions won’t let me go until I look…..until I think about what is in my heart and what motivates me.

God already knows what is in my heart. (Psalm 139:1-4) ¬†So why does the writer of Psalm 139 want God to search our hearts with us? I think it is because God is gentler than we would be on ourselves….but He won’t allow us to overlook what needs attention. We tend to beat ourselves up over our mistakes; or we overlook what we don’t want to see. God is gentle and humble and wants to ease our burdens, lead us, refresh us, help us live righteous lives, and give us rest. (Matthew 11:28-30) ¬† (Psalm 23:1-3).

I realize I don’t need to struggle with what is in my heart. God already knows my heart and my motives. If there are hurtful ways in me, He will gently bring them to my attention and help me deal with them. He will help me become the best version of myself that I can be while He leads me to restful places and gently restores my soul.

It is to this kind of God that I will surrender my heart and allow Him to examine it with me….for I know He loves me. ¬†(At the Cross–Hillsong)

Whispers From the Father

During this Thanksgiving season, I have reflected on a story in the Bible where Jesus heals ten men of a skin disease. Only one man turns around, goes back to Him and says “Thank You.” Jesus is surprised that only one out of the ten takes the time to express his gratitude. (Luke 17:11-19)

I wonder……do I take time to thank God for what He has done for me? Or am I like the nine men who walk away and never say thank you? ¬†Do I only thank God for one out of ten of my blessings? Do only one out of ten people thank God for what He has done? Is God surprised by our lack of thanksgiving towards Him?

In all honesty, while I think about God a lot, I don’t thank Him nearly enough. I want that to change. I need to habitually thank God for all He does for me.

How about you? Is there something (or if you are like me, many things) you should thank God for? I think He would like to hear from us; and not just during this Thanksgiving season! ūüėČ

May you have a blessed and thankful Thanksgiving!

Psalm 136:1-9

My Child~

I want you to delight yourself in Me. Do you know what delight means? It means to take great pleasure in or to have great pleasure.

Just as a little child delights in their mom or dad, the sunshine, the rain, a new toy or a pet, I want you to have that kind of delight in Me.

Why do I want that? Because if you delight yourself in Me, you will have the desires of your heart. (Psalm 37:4)

I delight in giving you good things. But to have those good gifts, you must turn to Me, delight yourself in Me, follow Me.

Spend some time with Me and allow me to love you. I do love you, you know. In fact, I take great delight in you! (Zephaniah 3:17)

Lean back and rest in Me.  Know that I am caring for you. Read My Word, get to know Me, and allow Me to give you wisdom and direction for your life.

Allow the deep blue sky, the warm sunshine, and the fall leaves to fill your soul with awe and wonder. These are some of My gifts to you.

The pleasures that the world offers aren’t real and don’t last; so don’t waste your time chasing after them.

Chase after Me….delight yourself in Me….and you will begin to see and feel My gifts to you.

My Child~

When you are upset due to a circumstance or person, take a few minutes and remove yourself either physically or mentally from the situation. Come to Me and let me clear your mind and calm your emotions.

Know that I am in sovereign control of all circumstances. (2 Chronicles 20:5-6) In the end, all things will work together for good.  (Romans 8:28) Be at rest knowing that I am very aware of what is happening to you and I will see you through the situation. (Isaiah 43:2)

If a person is causing you distress, take some time to calmly and lovingly ask him or her some questions. Seek to understand where they are coming from. As you seek to understand them, they may try to understand you. No matter how they treat you, do your best to live in peace with them. (Romans 12:18) Let your actions be motivated by love. Even if you don’t love them, or like how they treated you, they are My child, and I love them. I want you to show them love because all people need love. It is when they act poorly that they need My love the most.

My Child, I am with you at all times, especially when you are upset and hurting. Come and cry to Me. I see all your tears and they are precious to Me (Psalm 56:8).

I will calm you and give you My Peace. (Zephaniah 3:17, John 14:27)

My Dear Child~

I am with you all the time. I know you may not always feel My presence, but I am there nonetheless. I like to send you little reminders to let you know that I am with you and I am thinking about you. Have you noticed them?

The beautiful sunset which you saw the other night….. That was Me painting the sky just for you.

The meteor shower that you enjoyed…… Yes, that was Me too. (Psalm 19:1)

The “Penny from Heaven” that you found…… I sent that to encourage you.

The warm sunbeam on your leg…..that was Me embracing you. (Psalm 19:4-6)

The words of a friend: “What can I do to help you?” That was Me working through him to help you.

The patience and support of another friend….that was Me working in that person too.

The hug of one person, the flowers in the meadow, the whisper from Me in the night to consider a different direction, and the cross…yes the cross. The one that you saw illuminated in the cathedral as the sun went down. All of these special moments are small reminders that I am with you.

Look around you today, and you will see more reminders. These are to let you know that I am here. I will never leave you. And I will always guide you. (Deuteronomy 31:8, Psalm 32:8)
